We had a fun day at the park...

Playing on the swings:

And The Slides:

Lala brought her Umbrella on the walk over and on the way home Kawena wanted to hold it... I thought it was the cutest thing ever.

Today we went river rafting and had such a fun time! More on that to come soon!

Mommy we miss you!

Come home soon...

Auntie Malia lets my big sisters stick me in the oven... not only does she let them do that but she runs to get her camera to take cute pictures of me like this:

Mommy I miss you too... Auntie Malia lets me make a mess of my face like this:

And she's always got her camera all up in MY face...

So do you think you and Daddy can come home already? Thanks...

We love you,

Love Nani, Lala, and Kawena

Funny for the day:

(Mostly for those of you familiar with Hawaii and the way people talk there)

We were outside today when Nani and Lala were doing some yard work, I was telling them our plans for tomorrow and after whatever it was I said i ended with "yeah"

Nani: Why do you always say yeah after everything you say?

Me: Cuz thats the way people talk where I come from.

(To be honest I don't speak pidgeon at all so I was surprised that Nani noticed that I do that... I never noticed that I say "yeah" that much when talk, but I guess I do.)

I've lost my mind... has anyone seen it?

Yesterday I ran out the door on my way to work got half way down the walkway to the stairs when I looked down and noticed this:

lets get a closer look... yeah these slippers don't look anything a like, and they don't feel anything a like either. So I ran back to our apartment, snapped a few quick shots as evidence (of my losing my mind sometimes) found one slippers mate and was out the door again.

Today I managed to get 2 matching slippers on my feet before I was out the door. Yay me!

This is what happens....

when I get out of bed early and Stuart sleeps a little longer. He completely takes over my pillows so I couldn't go back to sleep it I wanted to. Even if he has enough pillows, he'll figure out a way to use another one, like using it as a blanket to drape over himself:

I guess I am the one to blame. I have to sleep with 2 specific pillows and can always tell if he switched them. So whenever he gets a chance to use "my" pillows I guess he takes advantage of it!

Isn't he adorable... so peaceful.

Surf Polo

2 great sports combined into one fun game! If surfing is fun, and water polo is fun, why don't we just moosh them together? Its like PB & J right?

A couple of weeks ago we were able to play in the Surf Polo tournament that was held at Waimea Bay. Since the north shore is flat during the summer the bay is nice and calm and perfect for such occasions.

I'd say that this backdrop beats the pool deck any day!

So surf polo.... how does that work you might be asking, it is quite different from regular water polo thats for sure. Usually, you would put ball under your chin and paddle, instead of swimming with it (as shown here by Stuart):

Shooting is a whole other game, you can sit or stand but you have to be on your board. Both present its challenges though. Have you tried to throw something while sitting down, its a lot harder and you can't get as much power behind it... standing on the other hand you can get a lot of power behind your shot however, your on an unstable board so its pretty easy to fall.

Anyways... surf polo is tons of fun and we had a great time playing, and look forward to another Surf Polo tournament next year!

Back on board!

Yesterday I was able to go out surfing again for the first time in over 4 months! Stuart wanted to go surf and it was such a beautiful day that I couldn't resist just going out and paddling around a bit. We thought it was going to be pretty small but when we got out there, we were surprised at how good it was!

I was on a longboard which I only know how to surf on super small waves that go forever. I felt a little uncomfortable out there because you can't duck dive on a longboard... at least I can't. So I was just sitting over on the side but when a wave would come my way I couldn't let it pass me by without giving it a try! I was able to catch a few waves and had some fun! I just had to be super careful about my wrist when I stood up. Instead of pushing up like normal, I had to use my fingertips so i wouldn't be bending my wrist.

Towards the end Stuart and I switched boards (I learned how to surf on a shortboard so I feel much more at home on them) and I was even able to catch a few on it! It felt so good to be back in the water like that!

It was so beautiful as we were paddling in as the sun sunk behind the mountain... sigh... The sky looked like a painting and I felt like it was missing pink elephants on parade... thats what I was thinking at the time, whats that from anyways (you know the song) is it from fantasia? I can see the ballerina hippos are the pink elephants from that too? anywhoo... a beautiful evening and the perfect first session back for me!
